Vic's photography has been described as "subtle
and very poetic" by a National Geographic photo editor. His
artistic eye was identified by his family at an early age, symbolized
by his father buying him a hand-me-down brownie camera. His passion
culminated in the formal study of Fine Arts, where he developed
his natural skill in design, drawing and painting.
Vic's love and commitment to art stem from his
sensitivity to people and social causes. He officially started
his photography career in the Air Force, where his published work
garnered numerous awards. Later, he embarked on a graphic design
and freelance photography career. His first stop was as an art
director and photographer for a nationally distributed Asian-American
newspaper. His 15-year long love for photography has led to projects
in Europe and Asia, recently participating in VII Photo Agency
photojournalism workshop in Bali, Indonesia.
He now contributes to major newspapers: S.F.
Chronicle, SJ Mercury News, Palo Alto Daily News and Las Vegas
Review Journal. When he's not on assignment, he works on personal
projects which focus on human rights issues. He tries to depict
the essence of each event by capturing the subject during that
once in a lifetime moment. Vic's success as a photographer stems
from his demeanor. His quiet and down-to-earth nature makes him
a very observant photographer, conscious of all his surroundings.
That's the sensitivity he brings to his wedding
photography as well. Many wedding couples, who are amazed by the
variety and beauty of his pictures ask him, "How did you
see and capture that happening around us?" Vic is constantly
motivated by the pure joy and special memories that photography
captures.
